The Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II is an archtop guitar. The guitar model produced by Epiphone as Joe Pass’s signature model. The guitar first released in 1994 just prior to Joe Pass’s death and it still produced until now. Peavey has been making these amps since the early 70′s where they originated from the Mississippi Delta. The Peavey classic 30 has become a favorite amplifiers amongst many popular musicians today With it’s simple classic design. It is used in the studio and it has been proven to hold up to the trials and tribulations on the road.

Starting off with looks, the Classic’s appearance is based almost entirely on early tweed Fenders – down to the chicken-head knobs, chrome-plated panel and fittings, name-plate and carrying handle. The speaker baffle is cut from approx 20mm ply. It is recess-mounted with 8 wood-screws, and covered with a tough ox-blood cloth. George Benson was born in March 22, 1943.He is simply one of the greatest guitarists in jazz history, but he is also an amazingly versatile musician; and that frustrates critics to no end who would paint him into a narrow bop box. He can play in just about any style from swing to bop to R&B to pop  with supreme taste, a beautiful rounded tone, terrific speed, a marvelous sense of logic in building solos, and, always, an unquenchable urge to swing. His inspirations may have been Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery but his style is completely his own.

Not only can he play lead brilliantly, he is also one of the best rhythm guitarists around, supportive to soloists and a dangerous swinger, particularly in a soul-jazz format. Yet Benson can also sing in a lush soulful tenor with mannerisms similar to those of Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway; and it is his voice that has proved to be more marketable to the public than his guitar.  Read the rest of this entry
